What does the Hangup Cause "No Route Destination" mean?

Last Updated 2 years ago

This Hangup Cause indicates that the called party cannot be reached because the network through which the call has been routed does not serve the destination desired.

This Hangup Cause is endpoint network dependent. Meaning the called party controls this outcome.

Typically this is encountered when you place an Outbound call to:

  • A Country Code which does not exist
  • An NPA (Area Code) which is not within the NANP (North American Numbering Plan)
  • An NXX (3-digit prefix after Area Code) which is not within the NANP (North American Numbering Plan)
  • A phone number that does not exist at the endpoint
  • An extension which does not exist on the PBX
This is not a problem with the PBX or the user's phone.
